One of the first things you need to do to begin writing a story is to choose a topic. Choose 2-3 topics from the following list:
  • Birth of a Star
  • Microgravity
  • Death of a Star
  • Pulsars
  • Cassini-Huygens
  • SETI
  • Wormholes
  • Binary Star System
  • New Horizons
  • Types of Galaxies
  • Types of Stars
  • Extrasolar Planets
  • Big Bang
  • Evolution of our Solar System
  • Dark Matter
  • Dark Energy
  • Oort Cloud
Now, do a little reading about your topics. The websites below will be a good place to start. As you read, just think about the following questions (you don't have to answer them):
  1. Am I interested enough in this topic to do more research?
  2. Can I find enough information about this topic to make a children's book about it?
  3. Where else can I find information about my topic?

Your Assignment: After you've chosen your topic, post a response that identifies your topic and includes 3 things you've already learned about it. Your post is due by Friday, 2/19/10 at 11:59 PM.

To post:
  1. Click the "Discussion" tab at the top of this page.
  2. Hit "+ New Post".
  3. Put your FIRST NAME AND LAST INITIAL (no last names) in the "Subject" box.
  4. Type the 3 things you've already learned about your topic in the "message" box.
  5. Click the "Post" button.
